It is our honor and pleasure to invite you to participate in the forthcoming International Symposium on High Voltage Engineering (ISH 2021). ISH 2021 will be held in Xi’an, China from 21-25 November 2021. It follows along the lines of the previous successful symposia held in Munich, Germany (1972), Zurich, Switzerland (1975), Milan, Italy (1979), Athens, Greece (1983), Braunschweig, Germany (1987), New Orleans, USA (1989), Dresden, Germany (1991), Yokohama, Japan (1993), Graz, Austria (1995), Montreal, Canada (1997), London, United Kingdom (1999), Bangalore, India (2001), Delft, Netherlands (2003), Beijing, China (2005), Ljubljana, Slovenia (2007), Cape Town, South Africa (2009), Hannover, Germany (2011), Seoul, South Korea (2013), Pilsen, Czech (2015), Buenos Aires, Argentina (2017), and Budapest, Hungary (2019).
I believe ISH 2021 will provide an excellent forum to present results, advances and discussions among engineers, researchers and scientists, and share ideas, knowledge and expertise on high voltage engineering. At ISH 2021, the tradition will meet the challenges of the twenty-first century such as HVDC transmission, distributed generations, smartening of power networks, and integration of renewable energies, etc.
Several important dates for this international symposium are as follows. The deadline for conference abstracts is March 15, 2021. The date of provisional acceptance notification of abstracts is April 15, 2021. The deadline for full papers is June 30, 2021. And the date of final acceptance notification of full papers is July 30, 2021.
The scope of ISH 2021 includes: (1) Electromagnetic fields: computation, measurements, environmental effects. (2) Transient voltages: lightning, switching, repetitive impulses, surge arresters, insulation coordination, over-voltage protection, EMC. (3) High voltage and high current testing techniques: test procedures, measurements, evaluation, partial discharges, space charges, dielectric characteristics, emerging test techniques. (4) Advanced materials and insulation systems: outdoor, indoor, solid, liquid andgas insulated, nanodielectric, eco-friendly and other new materials, novel insulation system. (5) Monitoring and diagnostics: intelligent sensing, big data, artificial intelligence, asset management, live-line working, maintenance and repair, safety considerations. (6) HVDC technologies and systems: design problems, testing and measuring techniques, advanced HVDC systems. (7) High voltage engineering problems in future power grids: distribution generations, smartening of power networks, and integration of renewable energies. (8) Industrial applications of high voltage: non-energy applications in different fields. (9) Other related issues.
ISH is one of the most influential international conferences with large scale and high academic level in the field of high voltage and insulation technology. The ISH 2021 attracted around 500 papers from scientists, researchers, and engineers in the field of high voltage engineering from different countries. In order to provide a better platform for scientists, researchers and engineers to exchange ideas and enlighten new research directions, the academic committee of ISH 2021 already invited top experts in the field of high voltage engineering to give plenary and invited presentations. The plenary presentations will be given by Professor Akiko Kumada from The University of Tokyo (Japan), Professor Christian Franck from ETH Zurich (Switzerland), Professor Peng Li from China Electric Power Research Institute (China), Professor Myriam Koch from Technical University of Munich (Germany), Professor Stefan Tenbohlen from University of Stuttgart (Germany), and Professor Gang Li from Xi'an High Voltage Apparatus Research Institute Co., Ltd. (China). The invited presentations will be given by 21 experts. They have a broad vision and innovative spirit, and always have original insights and new ideas in the research. Their wonderful and enlightening presentation will enlighten young scholars and young graduate students and lead them to appreciate the charm of scientific research. Their great foresight to the development direction of high voltage engineering will lead young scholars and young graduate students to enjoy the future scientific research of high voltage engineering. These plenary and invited presentations will make ISH 2021 a wonderful international conference, inspire the brainstorming of participants and lead the scientific research of high voltage engineering to a bright future.
ISH 2021 will be organized by Xi'an Jiaotong University, State Key Laboratory of Electrical Insulation and Power Equipment, China Society for Electrical Engineering, Chinese National Committee of CIGRE, High Voltage Technical Committee, China Electrotechnical Society, Engineering Dielectrics Technical Committee, and The International Council on Large Electric Systems. The Venue of the symposium is The Western China Science & Technology Innovation Harbor of Xi’an Jiaotong University. It only takes about 40 minutes to drive to Xianyang International airport and about 45 minutes to Xi’an Railway station. The conference website is http://www.ish2021.org.
